Fitness Tip: How to use the REACT Machine

Today’s Tip Tuesday is all about the REACT machine! REACT stands for Rapid Eccentric Anaerobic Core Training. This machine helps to improve your lower body and core strength, while also increasing your endurance and stability. The REACT is easy on your joints too since everything is no impact!

To start, you want to place your feet directly in the center of the platform so that your feet bisect the “T” on the platform. Attach the safety chord to your shirt to ensure that the machine will shut off if something happens. Then, you will hit the start button to turn the screen on. Move through the warning screen, and pick the program you wish to use from the list of choices that best fits your fitness level. Hit the start button again and hold on to the handles to start. If you need to rest at anytime during your workout, you just need to stand up with your legs straight instead of bent, and you can also hold on to the handles while you rest if you need to. The REACT machine is a strength based product, so you will do your workout in intervals of work & rest periods. To start out learning the REACT, you will begin in a squatted position and let your body “absorb” the platform with no movement going on from your hips to the top of your head. In other words, try to keep your head in one spot without letting it move up & down. You will let your knees extend & flex in that squat position with a straight back, and without bending down.
