You look leaner here than other videos. Was is after a certain phase during the year? Or when you were younger?

Progress logically with everything from pushups to running in boots.  It takes time to build up to 5+ miles in running.  Give yourself some time – even several weeks to build up to running that far in boots.

Yes. That's absolutely right. If you haven't been running its best get your legs in running shape first. Thanks for clarifying. I'd hate to be the cause of someone hurting themselves haha

Hey Stew. Love your workouts and videos. They're helping me a lot. I'm a SEAL wannabe and I'm doing the 12 week workout in The Complete Guide to Navy SEAL Fitness. I thought I was in shape but this workout has helped me realize being in shape simply isn't enough. Thanks for making your work available for the rest of us out there. P.S. Anyone planning on going to BUDs, run in boots. It makes a big difference if you're not used to it.

Hey stew Im wanting to join the seals. I have been working on my side stroke and when I pull breath other arm pull kick and glide I try to hold the glide for 3 seconds but I dont seem to go that far it take 8 to 9 strokes to get at the end of the pool
I feel at times Im at a dead stop when I kick and glide through your experiance what
is attributing to this love your videos and books keep it up.

    Sir,
I love your fitness vids and articles.  They're always really helpful, interesting and entertaining.  I've improved a lot in my performance with swimming and PT thanks to your expertise and I really appreciate it.  Even though you are a CSS and fitness expert, I'm sure that being a former SEAL officer and business owner also makes you an expert in mental toughness and leadership in dynamic situations.  I was wondering sir if you would want to toy with the idea of making a video or two on one or both of those subjects.   I'm sure any advice you gave out would help people out so much at work or in their daily lives.  I know it would for me.
    Thanks,
    Tim

I have books written on this topic – it is not a question to answer by simple email. It is much more complex than me saying do power clean and push press for 20-25 reps for multiple sets. Read my Navy SEAL Articles on my website for starters.

Which gym exercises do you recommend? And around what rep range should someone do if they desire to go to BUDS?

Close – the taller / longer limbed person has an advantage but I have seen many people who are 5 ft ish and swimming low 8 min 500yd CSS. PS: Post about swimming on swimming videos please…

Is there a difference in stroke in swim among tall and short or can one come in equally on the swimming. I find myself coming up about 5 to six times in strokes but I make the time of 8 min time

Did I say this had anything to do with SEAL training in this video? But if you think everything I do has to do with Navy SEAL – here is an answer for you – I would recommend running, swimming, high rep PT, but also get some lifting in to be able to handle boats on your head or logs on your shoulder / over head.
