TRX Kickboxing – Morning Crane Healing Arts & Fitness Center

In the TRX kickboxing class we combine the plyometerics and stretching exercises and core work in order to help the students achieve their cardio and fitness goals. We also use the TRX in order to help with muscle tonification and as well as stretching. The TRX creates instability as it works with the core as well. We do a lot of isometric exercises after we warm-up up with all of those types of exercises. Then we put on the boxing gloves. Normally students wear 16 ounce gloves that we provide here; or you can buy or borrow them. We go through hand techniques and combinations, for example jabs, jab cross, upper cut, and then we start to throw in the use of legs, knees, and spearing knees, and outside knees. We teach them how to throw front kicks, roundhouse kicks; we do partnering drills. There is no contact in here, but we still do the partnering drills with the mitts. That way you get used to helping somebody else out, essentially grabbing the punches. We also utilize the heavy bag so people can get a feel of what it’s like to work against something that has resistance. I regulate and watch the class and if I see a lot of the students are getting really tired, or what we call really gassed, then I go ahead and back off on the class. Even if someone doesn’t ever plan on doing kickboxing, kickboxing training is fantastic for losing weight, building lean muscle mass, and starting to build confidence because we do teach technique in here. It’s a lot of fun practicing!
